England middle-order batter Harry Brook got a lucky break as the stumps remained intact despite the ball hitting it on day 3 of the opening Test against Pakistan. David Gower, who was on commentary, was stunned to see it, claimed that it was the closest that Pakistan looked like taking a wicket in a long time. A video of the same was shared by PCB on social media.

The incident occurred in the 76th over of the innings sent down by Aamer Jamal. With the Yorkshireman defending the short of a good length delivery from the right-arm seamer, the ball looped up and Brook tried to kick it away with his leg, but it went in vain. However, the stumps remained intact even as the ball hit it.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old, along with Joe Root, struck a century to put England in a fantastic position to overhaul Pakistan's score of 556. The right-handed batter got to the magical three-figure mark off only 118 deliveries and finished the day on 141. Root, meanwhile, who created multiple records on day three, stayed unbeaten on 176.

The partnership between the pair is now an unbroken 243 as they whittled the lead down to only 64. Among Pakistan bowlers, only Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Jamal found breakthroughs. However, all three went at well above four an over.
