Colombo, August 23: Indian wicket-keeper batsman Dhruv Jurel revealed the story behind his viral "जय जवान, जय किसान" tattoo which he flashed after smashing a magnificent hundred during the second Test against Sri Lanka at the SSC Cricket Ground in Colombo on Monday.
Dhruv Jurel showed the tattoo which he got on his biceps as he scored his first away century. He was batting on 99 and scored a single after a long wait and reached his hundred after which he received a roaring cheer from the crowd.
He rolled up his sleeve and flashed the tattoo which was engraved in the Hindi language. Dhruv Jurel then revealed the story behind the tattoo during a press conference after the match.
He said that his grandfather was a farmer and his father was a soldier. He also said, "Those are my roots where I came from and I don't want to forget it. So, that's the elevation for my father and grandfather."
Dhruv Jurel managed to score 115 runs off 177 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes. His century helped Team India to post 503/9 after which they declared and he remained Not Out. Sri Lanka came in to bat and were 8/2 at stumps.
Indian Cricket Team is in the dominating position in the second Test as the batters helped to post a mammoth score of over 500 runs and the bowlers taking early breakthroughs with two wickets as the play ended on rain-hit second day.
