Chelsea have cemented their place in European football history with a stunning 4-1 comeback win over Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League final. The triumph makes Chelsea the first club ever to win all four major UEFA competitions the Champions League, Europa League, Cup Winners’ Cup, and now the Conference League.

The historic night also capped off a dream end to the 2024/25 season, with the Blues having already secured a return to the Champions League with a crucial league win over Nottingham Forest last weekend.

For the first time after 27 consecutive victories by Spanish clubs or national teams in World Cups, European Championships, Champions League, and UEFA Cup/Europa League finals, a non-Spanish team finally emerged triumphant.

Chelsea beats Real Betis in one sided encounter

Chelsea, under the guidance of manager Enzo Maresca, overcame a first-half deficit to defeat Real Betis with an emphatic 4-1 win. Abde Ezzalzouli gave Betis an early lead, slotting a low drive past Chelsea’s Filip Jörgensen just 10 minutes into the match. But the second half told a very different story.

Chelsea came out energized and found the equalizer in the 65th minute. Cole Palmer, who would soon dominate the pitch, delivered a precise cross into the box. Enzo Fernández met it with a perfectly timed header, leveling the score and breathing life back into the English side.

Palmer, operating as the creative engine of the team, soon turned provider again. Isolated one-on-one with young Betis defender Jesús Rodríguez, Palmer executed a slick dribble before delivering a sharp cross. The ball deflected off Nicolas Jackson’s chest and into the net, putting Chelsea ahead 2-1.

With the Spanish side reeling, Chelsea continued to press. Jadon Sancho made it 3-1 with a brilliant solo effort, cutting in from the left and bending a shot into the far corner.

As Betis pushed forward in desperation, Chelsea struck once more on the counter. Moisés Caicedo capped off a blistering breakaway to seal the victory with a fourth goal.
