Pune: Speeding Truck Rams Bike In Dive Ghat, Father And 12-Year-Old Daughter Killed

Pune: A tragic road accident in the Dive Ghat area on the Pune–Saswad road claimed the lives of a man and his young daughter after a speeding truck hit their motorcycle, police said on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Sundar Kailas Gangawane, 38, and his 12-year-old daughter Ananya. Both were residents of Undri-Pisoli. Sundar’s eight-year-old son, Soham, was injured in the accident and is currently undergoing treatment.

According to police, the family were returning from a devdarshan in Jejuri when the incident took place. While they were descending the ghat, a truck carrying construction material rammed into their motorcycle from behind.

The impact was severe. Both victims were thrown onto the road. Ananya reportedly came under the truck, while Sundar suffered critical injuries.

Police stated that the truck driver was speeding and had violated traffic rules. He has been arrested. Officials confirmed that he was not under the influence of alcohol.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. Initial findings suggest that negligence and overspeeding were the main causes of the accident.
