Pune: Four Arrested In Viman Nagar For Rs 5 Crore Extortion Claiming To Be Arun Gawali’s PA | Sourced

Pune: A builder was demanded Rs 5 crore as extortion from a man claiming to be Personal Assistant (PA) of notorious criminal Arun Gawali. This led to four arrests made by the Pune Police, officials said on Tuesday. 

A builder had complained to Lashkar Police Station. Lashkar Police, along with Anti-Extortion Squad 1, carried out the operation.

Police have arrested Rohan Shivaji Gaware (age 30, resident of Koregaon Park), Sudarshan Aasman Gayake (age 27, resident of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), Mahendra Ramnath Shelke (age 42) and Krushna Parmeshwar Budhkar (age 26, both residents of Beed). 

Police said that the complainant is a builder. A man named Sumit Chaure and the complainant were partners in business. Due to some financial reasons, they had an argument. 

Chaure claimed that he gave Rs 8 crore to the complainant to invest in expanding the business in the business. However, Chaure alleged that the complainant didn’t invest it and used the money for personal profit. 

From this incident, Chaure decided to gain back the money by extortion. He and his two accomplices called the complainant and demanded the money. 

They identified themselves as a person named Prashant Patil and claimed to be the PA of notorious gangster Arun Gawali. Initially, they demanded Rs 7 crore but then settled for no less than Rs 5 crore. 

They called the complainant to receive the money in a hotel in Viman Nagar, where police laid a trap and detained everyone present. Police said that the search for others is ongoing. Lashkar Police are investigating the matter further.
