Mumbai: On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) P North Division has launched an organic fertiliser production initiative within the premises of four housing societies in Malad.
This eco-friendly initiative, which began on June 5, is part of the 'Zero Waste Precinct' campaign by the BMC. The project focuses on managing waste right at the source by turning organic waste into compost, ensuring sustainable disposal methods.
This video, shared by the BMC on X, captures the process and spirit of this eco-friendly initiative, showcasing how community participation can lead to greener living. The footage shows BMC workers collecting waste directly from households, the disposal method being followed, and the machinery used in the composting process.
Rayat Shikshan Sanstha Alumni Launch 'Books and the 3Rs' Drive in Navi Mumbai
In a thoughtful step towards sustainability and educational support, the alumni of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha have introduced a new initiative titled ‘Books and the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)’ on the occasion of World Environment Day, Thursday, June 5, 2025.
The event, scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM, will be held at the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Headquarters in Belapur.
As part of this initiative, old textbooks from Std. 9th and 10th, collected from municipal schools, will be donated to tribal Ashram schools managed by Rayat Shikshan Sanstha. The drive supports both environmental responsibility and academic empowerment for underprivileged students.
