Thane: Former City Mayor Ganesh Salvi's Brother Dies Of Heart Attack Moments After Shooting Wife Dead In Kalwa

In a shocking incident a former Thane Mayor Ganesh Salvi's elder brother Dilip Salvi died of a 'heart attack' right after shooting his wife. The 56-year-old Dilip Salvi shot his wife Pramila, 51, after an argument broke out between the two.

The incident occurred around 10:15 pm on Friday in Yashwant Niwas located in Kumbhar Ali of Kalwa. As per the report, Salvi had an altercation with his wife and in a fit of rage, shot two rounds at her. Salvi then collapsed to the ground and died due to a heart attack.

Ganesh Gawde, Deputy commissioner of police Zone-1 said," Soon after Salvi returned home on Friday night, an altercation broke out between him and his wife. In a fit of rage, he took out his revolver and fired two rounds at his wife, who died on the spot." Soon afterwards, Salvi collapsed on the ground and died after apparently suffering a heart attack. When Salvi had pointed the revolver towards Pramila, she had raised an alarm and called for his son, however, before he could reach the spot she was shot dead. So far we have not got the exact motive behind the killing."

Bodies sent for post-mortem

Kanhaiya Thorat, senior police inspector, Kalwa police station said, "Salvi belonged to an influential family in Kalwa and some are known to be a part of local politics and social activities. A number of civic and other projects are named after his father late Yashwant Rama Salvi. The bodies of the couple were sent for post-mortem to government hospital and an offence is being registered. As per the initial investigation, domestic violence is the reason behind the extreme step."

DCP Ganesh Gawde who visited the incident site is supervising the investigation. Dilip Salvi and his wife are survived by a son and a daughter.
