Thane Crime Branch Arrests 54-Year-Old Truck Driver, Seizes ₹31 Lakh Worth Of Illegal Khair Wood In Majiwada; Probe Underway
The Thane Crime Branch Unit 5 arrested a man after intercepting a truck carrying 10 tonnes of khair wood near Majiwada Naka in the early hours of Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Anil Kumar Ramachandran Gupta, 54, a resident of Dhule, Maharashtra.

Thane: The Thane Crime Branch Unit 5 arrested a man after intercepting a truck carrying 10 tonnes of khair wood near Majiwada Naka in the early hours of Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Anil Kumar Ramachandran Gupta, 54, a resident of Dhule, Maharashtra.
Acting on a tip-off, Assistant Police Inspector Sharad Patil led a team that laid a trap at Majiwada around 1 a.m. on Tuesday. The police intercepted a truck travelling via Nitin Road and, upon inspection, found it loaded with approximately 10 tonnes of khair wood, valued at over ₹31 lakh. The truck and the timber were seized and brought to the police station.

An FIR has been registered against the driver under relevant sections of the Indian Forest Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police said they are investigating the source of the wood and its intended destination. Further inquiries are underway.
