Thane: 1 killed, 2 others injured in air pressure control valve explosion in Ambernath factory

The victim, identified as Shrikant Kadam, had filled air in the pressure control valve and was testing the same when it exploded and its lid fell on him and crushed him.

Thane: Shrikant Suresh Kadam, a 28-year-old worker for the Neles (Walmat) company at MIDC in Ambernath lost his life during the testing of the pressure control wall.

The incident took place on Tuesday, December 20 at around 7 pm in the unit located in Ambernath township where industrial valves were manufactured.

While Srikanth was working, the pressure control wall was being tested by filling it with air, suddenly this wall burst and its cover fell on Srikanth's body.

Srikanth was seriously injured in the accident, while two other workers were also injured. These three were immediately admitted to a nearby private hospital for treatment.

But unfortunately, Srikanth succumbed during the treatment.

Shivajinagar police arrived on the scene right away to begin panchnama following the incident. The relatives of the deceased Srikant Kadam have demanded compensation.

A video surfaced on social media platforms on Wednesday purportedly showing other workers running away amid commotion after the incident.

Two other workers were injured and admitted to a local hospital for treatment, he said.

The body was sent to a government hospital for post-mortem, the official said.

An offence was registered against the factory manager, its safety manager, supervisor and others under Indian Penal Code Section 304A (causing death by negligence), the official said, adding no arrest was made so far.
