Virar, August 11, 2026: Fake currency notes worth Rs 1 crore have been seized by the Vasai Crime Branch Unit 2 in Virar.
The action was carried out at Shirsad Phata within the Virar limits along the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Highway. Acting on information, the Crime Branch team intercepted a Kia car in which the accused was allegedly carrying the fake currency notes in a bag.
Counterfeit Notes Seized
During the operation, police seized 20,000 counterfeit Rs 500 notes, with a total face value of Rs 1 crore.
The police have taken into custody one accused person and seized a Kia car bearing registration number MH 48 BT 8686, along with the counterfeit currency.
Investigation Underway
The process of counting and verifying the seized notes continued throughout the night at Mandvi Police Station in Virar.
