Navi Mumbai: Rabale Builder Files Complaint, Alleges ₹10 Lakh Extortion And CIDCO Demolition Threats

A local builder has filed a police complaint with the Rabale police station, alleging extortion and blackmail by a man who threatened to get CIDCO to demolish his under-construction building by going on a hunger strike.
The complainant, Rishab Gulab Gupta (29), a construction businessman, has accused Tribhuvansingh Thakur of demanding ₹10 lakh since December 30, 2024, in exchange for not initiating action from CIDCO against the building.
"Gupta has alleged that Thakur threatened to stage a hunger strike outside CIDCO and file official complaints to push for demolition, claiming the construction near Gothivali crematorium, beside the Ram Temple, was illegal. The accused had already lodged a complaint with CIDCO on this matter," said an official investigating the matter.

Following this, the accused’s associate continued contacting Gupta, demanding a resolution. Feeling harassed and pressured, Gupta finally approached the police and lodged a formal complaint.
"The police are currently investigating the case, examining recorded conversations, transaction details, and complaint records with CIDCO," said an official.
