To promote environmental awareness and express gratitude towards the Patalganga River, the Sahaj Seva Foundation organized a special river worship and aarti ceremony in Khopoli. The event, held at the Gagangiri Ashram on Saturday, saw participation from local residents, especially women.
Shravani Haldi-Kunku Ceremony with a Twist:
This year, the foundation introduced a unique twist by hosting a collective Shravani Haldi-Kunku ceremony for women, aimed at blending cultural tradition with ecological responsibility.
As part of the celebrations, women were gifted cloth bags and seed balls to promote sustainable living. Various games were also organized, with attractive prizes distributed to winners. One lucky participant won a traditional Paithani saree through a specially conducted lucky draw.
Monthly Birthday Celebrations Announced:
In a further initiative, the foundation announced that beginning August 2025, birthdays of women from the Khopoli Municipal Council area will be collectively celebrated on the fourth Saturday of every month during the river worship ceremony. A lucky draw will be held each month for those celebrating their birthdays, with women required to submit a birthday form in advance to participate.
Strong Community Participation:
The initiative received strong support from several organizations including Anand School, Param Pujya Gagangiri Maharaj Ashram, R.T. Zaveri Jewellers, and Sadguru Graphics — all based in Khopoli.
Dr. Shekhar Jambhale, President of Sahaj Seva Foundation, along with Working President Madhuri Gujarathi, Women’s President Neelam Patil, and Secretaries Akhilesh and Mrs. Patil, played key roles in organizing the successful event.
