Mumbai Weather News: IMD Predicts Overcast Skies With Light To Moderate Rainfall Over The Weekend

Mumbai: On Friday, various spots in Mumbai and around saw substantial rainfall, while other regions in state remained overcast. The overall temperature did not increase markedly, but the mix of humidity and sporadic rain caused discomfort for inhabitants.

This weather trend is anticipated to continue through the weekend, with predictions indicating light rain and potential thunderstorms. Since the start of the monsoon, rainfall amounts have been modest, with Colaba getting 30 mm and Santa Cruz 47.1 mm in six days.

Even though temperatures were marginally below average—32.2°C in Colaba and 31.7°C in Santa Cruz—the humidity added to a sensation of warmth. Significantly, Santacruz received 14 mm of rain, whereas Colaba stayed dry throughout the day.

The Regional Meteorological Department reported that oligocyclonic conditions are influencing the area, while the southwest monsoon winds are still weak. A 'yellow alert' has been declared for Mumbai because of potential rain and thunderstorms, affecting multiple districts such as Jalgaon, Nashik, Pune, and Nagpur, with isolated thunderstorms anticipated.

The area stretching from Madhya Maharashtra to Coastal Andhra Pradesh, along with Karnataka and Telangana, is undergoing comparable cloudy weather. Farmers are achieving success despite the difficulties posed by the monsoon, exemplified by a tale of a farmer growing Iranian dates organically and earning considerable profits. Rain is expected this weekend, with possible decreases in thunderstorm activity if circumstances change.
