Mumbai: After battling relentless rainfall for over a week, Mumbai woke up to overcast skies and scaterred rain showers on Tuesday, marking a much-needed break from the recent deluge. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not issued any weather alert for the day, a notable shift from the yellow and orange warnings that were in place last week for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar.
Light To Moderate Rains Anticipated
Though the heavy downpours have eased, light to moderate showers are still on the cards for the city throughout the day. According to weather portals, including AQI.in, there is a 95 per cent chance of precipitation with humid conditions. The city will continue to see generally cloudy skies, with temperatures expected to hover between 26°C and 31°C. Commuters may face slower traffic on slick roads and motorists are advised to exercise caution while driving.
Navi Mumbai, Thane & Palghar To See Moderate Rains
In Navi Mumbai and Thane, the weather is also predicted to remain comparatively stable. Occasional moderate rain showers may occur, but there is no threat of thunderstorms or extremely heavy rain. Daytime temperatures are likely to stay between 24°C and 30°C.
Palghar district is likely to witness calm weather conditions as well. While isolated areas could see intense showers, no official weather alert has been issued for the region. The temperature range here is expected to be between 24°C and 29°C, suggesting a relatively mild and comfortable day compared to the previous week.
Konkan Remains Under Yellow Alert
However, the situation is different in parts of coastal Konkan, where a yellow alert has been issued for Raigad and Ratnagiri districts. The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated pockets. Residents, especially those living in hilly terrain and near the shoreline, are urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions. In contrast, Sindhudurg district, despite having no active weather alert, is expected to experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall.
