Mumbai News: Sri Sankara Mattham In Matunga Celebrates 1237th Sankara Jayanthi With Spiritual Events And Procession
Sri Sankara Mattham said that the day holds a great religious and spiritual significance to Hindu religion. The day marks the birth anniversary of Adi Sankaracharya who was born at Kaladi in Kerala on Panchami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha.

Mumbai: The Sri Sankara Mattham, Matunga, celebrated Sankara Jayanthi on Friday.
Sri Sankara Mattham said that the day holds a great religious and spiritual significance to Hindu religion. The day marks the birth anniversary of Adi Sankaracharya who was born at Kaladi in Kerala on Panchami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha.
This will be his 1237th birth anniversary. He established four maths in different parts of the country to spread the knowledge of Vedas and Upanishads. He was considered as incarnation of Lord Siva and a greatest philosopher of Sanathana Dharma. He passed away at the age of 32 years.

There will be daily discourses till May 10 in the evenings on “Sankara Vijayam-Sankara’s works” by Brahmasri Vatagudi Sundararama dikshithar. There was a grand procession of the Adi Sankara's idol in the evening. Annadhanam was performed on Friday.
