Mumbai: Azad Maidan Police Register Murder Case Of 70-Yr-Old Man, 3 Years After His Death
The Azad Maidan police have registered a case of murder in connection with the mysterious death of a 70-year-old man, Amrutlal Krantilal Patel, in 2021. The FIR has come after directives from the sessions court. The case was filed after Patel’s sister, Jyotsnaben Patel, alleged foul play and sought legal intervention.

The FIR has come after directives from the sessions court. The case was filed after Patel’s sister, Jyotsnaben Patel, alleged foul play and sought legal intervention.
About The Case
Patel, a resident of Navsari in Gujarat, had been brought to Bombay Hospital on April 16, 2021, due to deteriorating health but passed away before admission. At the time, the police had classified the case as an accidental death, with an autopsy confirming natural causes. The investigation was subsequently closed. However, Jyotsnaben alleged that her brother had been murdered.

After her petition was dismissed by the magistrate court, she moved the sessions court, which directed the police to register a murder case and investigate further.
On November 25, the Azad Maidan police booked Patel’s wife Hemlata Patel, and their domestic helper Deepak Jha, under charges of murder. According to officials, both Hemlata and Deepak were present with Patel during his journey to Mumbai.
