Mumbai: Alertness of Central Railway averts possible mishap after tree falls on track
The Parsik tunnel near Mumbra is used by local and express trains between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Kalyan.
Alertness and timely action of the Central Railway Mumbai Divisions team averted a possible mishap after a tree from the Parsik tunnel fell and blocked the track between Thane and Kalyan station on Monday night.
"RPF's P B Singh informed to Station Master, Thane and also RPF Control at 8.46 pm regarding falling of a tree in Railway area from outside the railway premise between Thane and Parsik (near the tunnel on 5th line)" said a senior officer of CR.
"For safety reasons, the power supply of the concerned section was switched off at 8.48 pm. Meanwhile, Loco Pilot also applied emergency brakes and stopped the train just before the obstruction. Later on, TMC staff and Railway staff removed the tree branches from the track and the train departed the site at 9.44 pm. No injury, no damage to loco" he added.
Due to this problem Train no-12335 Bhagalpur to LTT was stopped at 8.50 pm near Diva end of Parsik Tunnel and departed at 9.44 pm after track given safe by concern officials. Apart from other officials, train driver Murlidhar Sharma timely action was also commendable. He applied brake timely and stopped train safely. The Parsik tunnel near Mumbra is used by local and express trains between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Kalyan.
