Maharashtra: Imposter poses as BJP chief JP Nadda's aide, offers MLAs ministerial berths for money; held
Rathod tried to extort Rs1.66 lakh from Vikas Kumbhare, a BJP MLA, by promising him a ministerial berth
Nagpur: While the expansion of the state cabinet is still pending, a case came to light when some MLAs in the state were lured to get ministerial berths in lieu of money.
Shockingly, this imposture claimed to be close to BJP national president JP Nadda, who lured MLAs to get ministerial posts.
The Nagpur Police have arrested a person from Morbi in Gujarat in this connection identified as Neeraj Singh Rathod. He had called up Central Nagpur MLA Vikas Kumbhare on May 7 and lured him with the ministership and demanded Rs 1.66t lakh. However, Kumbhare got suspicious and immediately lodged a complaint with the police. It was only after his complaint that the matter came to light.
6 BJP MLAs offered ministerial posts, some even paid for it
Not only Kumbhare, but five other BJP MLAs were also offered ministerial posts and demanded money. MLA Narayan Kuche, MLA Tekchand Sawarkarand and MLA Tanaji Mutkule were offered excise ministerial posts. Four from Vidarbha and two from Marathwada MLAs were lured to get ministerial posts in exchange of money. The accused tried to mislead MLAs not only in Maharashtra but also in Goa and Nagaland in similar ways.
It is reported that some MLAs accepted the claims of this bogus man and gave him lakhs of rupees, a fact confirmed by one MLA.
Importantly, this case of fraud is not only limited to Maharashtra but is of an inter-state nature... How many MLAs have been cheated by this fraudster in Maharashtra by pretending to be ministerial posts will be revealed only after investigation.
