Against the backdrop of the recent controversy over the use of loudspeakers in mosques during Azaan and reciting of Hanuman Chalisa, the MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Thursday in a two-page letter to the people of Maharashtra said ‘’Let’s put an end to this hindrance.’’ He urged party workers to ensure mosques using loudspeakers maintain the permissible limit of 55 decibels during the day and 45 decibels at night and to alert the police in case of violations.
‘’When troubled by the blaring of loudspeakers, you can dial 100 from any phone/mobile and keep the police informed. You can also tag the social media handles of police on Twitter and Facebook to keep them informed. Whenever you do inform the police, you must keep a copy of the complaint with yourself,’’ said Thackeray.
Thackeray said the letter will be delivered to the people by MNS workers. ‘’Please save his name and number in your contact list. In any difficulty or crisis situation, my Maharashtra Sainik will be at your service,’’ he noted.
‘’We had taken up the issue of loudspeakers and it heated up the politics across India. We shouldn't leave the issue. Basically, I am giving a letter to all of you (officials of MNS) and you ensure that it reaches every household in Maharashtra," the MNS chief said.
