Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday said if the control of the Enforcement Directorate is given to their party, then even BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis will vote for the Sena.
‘’ If the ED's control is given to us for two days, then Devendra Fadnavis too will vote for us." His remark came a day after Shiv Sena’s second nominee Sanjay Pawar losing the sixth seat in the Rajya Sabha polls from Maharashtra held on Friday, a contest which had become a high-prestige battle between the ruling Sena and the opposition BJP in the state.
Fadnavis, the leader of opposition in the state Assembly, is credited for the BJP's victory on the sixth seat, won by party nominee Dhananjay Mahadik by defeating Shiv Sena's Sanjay Pawar.
"The results of the Rajya Sabha elections are out. The election to 10 seats of state legislative council is taking place on June 20. BJP won the sixth seat, but is that victory real?” asked Raut.
‘’The contest was 41 votes against 39 votes. Shiv Sena candidate Sanjay Pawar got 33 votes of first preference but the BJP nominee won,’’ said Raut. He claimed that the central agencies played a major role in the RS poll.
‘’Rajya Sabha elections were held across the country, including Maharashtra. The fact that the ruling party in Delhi is using the central machinery to win such an election has come to the fore again. It was seen in Maharashtra and Haryana,’’ claimed Raut. ‘’There are 13 nominees in the state council election. BJP despite lack of enough votes has fielded six candidates as it wants to promote horse trading and vitiate the atmosphere in Maharashtra,’’ he alleged.
