Eknath Shinde did not have majority number of 144, says Supriya Sule

The Nationalist Congress Party MP Supriya Sule while speaking on the Maharashtra political turmoil said rebel Sena leader Eknath Shinde did not have the majority number of 144. ‘’Shinde only has 50 MLAs from what I have heard, so it can't be said that he has the majority,” she said. ‘’Anyone who is speaking against the government is getting ED notices. Such things are not good for the country and the Constitution,” Sule said on the ED summons to Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut.

‘’I am not an astrologer and I cannot talk of numbers. But this is a democracy and there should be discussion. Whatever their demands should be resolved through discussion,"said Sule. She showered praise on Chief Minister and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray saying that he has been extremely conciliatory. She urged the rebels to return to Maharashtra to find a solution constitutionally.

Sule’s statement is important as her father and NCP chief Sharad Pawar has said that his party will support Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray till the last minute.

To a question on rebel MLAs targeting NCP and accusing it for finishing Shiv Sena politically, Sule said, ‘’ It should not be forgotten that all those who are coming forward and talking today were NCP members before. We never let bitterness get in the way of our relationship. Even if the leave the party, we will still have feelings of love for them.’’ She added that the party respected and loved those who were in NCP for many years.

‘’Governments and relations do not run on television. Whatever the demands are, they (rebel Shiv Sena MLAs) should discuss face to face. If we take the name of Babasaheb Ambedkar, we should be very proud of the Constitution. So why not go the way of the Constitution?’’asked Sule.

‘’You are the people's representative with responsibilities. Despite differences a way out can be found though discussion,’’ she noted.
