MP December 20 Weather Update: Temporary Relief As Night Temperatures Rise; Intense Cold To Return Soon

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The state is witnessing a temporary rise in nighttime temperatures. Meteorologists predict an increase of 2-3°C for the next 3-4 days. However, cold weather is expected to return soon after.
Gwalior, Chambal, and Sagar divisions will experience foggy mornings. Cities like Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, and Chhatarpur are likely to be affected by dense fog. Sunny days are expected despite the fog.
Several cities have recorded a rise in minimum temperatures. Indore, Dhar, Khandwa, Khargone, and Narmadapuram are seeing night temperatures around 10-11°C. Meanwhile, regions like Pachmarhi, Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Mandla remain colder, with mercury dipping below 7°C.
December has been colder than January in many parts of the state. Bhopal saw its coldest December in 58 years. Nine consecutive days of cold wave gripped the state. Schools in Bhopal, Indore, and Gwalior adjusted timings due to the cold. Even animals in Bhopal’s Van Vihar National Park are being provided heaters.
According to weather experts, intense cold waves began earlier than usual this December. Typically, severe cold sets in by the second week, but this year saw a frosty start in the first half itself.
November was equally remarkable. Bhopal recorded its coldest November in 36 years. Cities like Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, and Gwalior experienced temperatures 7°C below normal.
