Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): A man was sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs 5,000 by the additional sessions court in Dhar for killing his one-and-a-half-year-old son under the influence of black magic. The verdict was delivered by judge Paras Kumar Jain on Tuesday.
Accused lived with Tantriks for past two years
The incident took place on September 5, 2023, in Chandan Nagar, Ghatabillod, under Pithampur police station. According to the complaint filed by Bhagwandas Parihar, his son Umesh had been living with tantriks for the past two years and often spoke about occult practices.

On the day of the incident, Umesh began chanting mantras and sprinkling ash and water on family members. When they resisted, he violently drove them out of the house and in a shocking act, killed his toddler son by slamming him to the ground multiple times.
A case was registered against Umesh under IPC Sections 323, 302 and 436. Pithampur police arrested and produced him in court. The investigation, led by SI Prashant Pal, gathered strong evidence resulting in a solid prosecution.
