Omkareshwar (Madhya Pradesh): With huge influx of devotees in Omkareshwar, devotees raised the demand for construction of a pedestrian submersible bridge over the rocks from Nagar Ghat to Omkar Math Ghat.
The construction of the bridge here would help facilitate effective crowd control and offer an alternative to the old pedestrian bridge.
At present, the devotees visiting the pilgrimage have to travel on foot either through the new hanging bridge or the old bridge. Moreover, the old pedestrian bridge, approximately 40 years old, has almost completed its lifespan.
If the bridge is constructed from Nagar Ghat to Omkar Ghat, then it will be convenient for the pilgrims to reach the temple. The distance of the bridge from the main temple is about one kilometre.
Devotees who wish to perform parikrama of Omkar Parvat and visit the Narmada-Kaveri Sangam site will be able to do it easily.
Not only this, after the construction of the submersible bridge from Nagar Ghat, devotees coming for bathing will be able to get safe ghats here. Along with this, parking spaces can also be prepared in the rear part, along with the construction of grand ghats on the rocks of the north-south coast.
Mandhata MLA Narayan Patel also demanded construction of a bridge from Nagar Ghat to Omkar Ghat in the notice letter in the assembly on March 20, 2023.
