Indore: Former Member Of Parliament Kalyan Jain Passes Away At 88
Kalyan Jain was associated with the Samajwadi Movement, and after Independence became the Member of Parliament from Indore.
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Former Member Of Parliament and senior social leader, Kalyan Jain passed away on Thursday at the age of 88. He was politically active in spite of suffering from a prolonged illness. His last rituals were performed at Panchkuiya MuktiDham at 4:30 pm.
Kalyan Jain was associated with the Samajwadi Movement.
Jain was a respected leader across political parties. He had close relations with big socialist leaders of the country and industrialists.
The former MP went to jail during the emergency in 1975, and participated in various mass movements.
Two years later in 1977, he contested Lok Sabha elections from the United Front and won from Indore. He was the second non-Congress leader after Homi Daji to become a Member of Parliament.
Earlier in 1967, he also served as an MLA.
