Kolkata: Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Monday had visited the State Election Commission along with few other party MLAs over fake voter issue and deployment of central forces during the elections.
In keeping with the Assembly elections scheduled next year, the Leader of Opposition urged that the state police should not be deployed during the elections.
“When Hindus were being attacked at Dhulian or Samserganj, the state police didn’t take calls for two days. Everyone can understand what will happen if these police are used during the elections. This is the main thing I came to say to the election commissioner,” said Adhikari.
The Leader of Opposition also alleged that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is using the administration and is putting Rohingya’s name in the voter list in return for money.
“In Kakdwip in return of Rs. 10000, TMC was putting Rohingya’s name in the voter list. Not just in Kakdwip, but in every district non-voters' names are being added in the voters list. After such a scam surfaced, why will just a FIR be lodged by the state police? I want a CBI probe in this issue. This is a national issue. Why aren’t agencies related to the Election Commission unable to take steps?” questioned Adhikari.
In the letter given to the state election commission, the Leader of Opposition mentioned that the civic volunteers and district administration should not be kept in the election duty.
TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said, "Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) only has agencies and common people are not by their side."
