Waqf Bill Likely To Be Tabled In Lok Sabha Tomorrow, BJP Issues '3-Line Whip' To All MPs

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday issued a whip to all its Lok Sabha MPs, mandating their presence in Parliament on 2nd April 2025 amid reports suggesting that the Centre may table the Waqf Amendment Bill on Wednesday.

In a three line whip, to all BJP MPs saffron party stated, "All BJP Members in Lok Sabha are hereby informed that some very important Legislative Business will be taken up for passing in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, the 2nd April 2025. All Members of BJP in Lok Sabha are therefore, requested to be positively present in the House throughout the day on Wednesday, the 2nd April 2025 and support the Government's stand.

According to reports, an eight-hour slot has been allocated for the discussion on the Waqf Bill, and Minorities Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will respond to the debate and seek the House's approval for its passage.

The Bill, which was introduced last year, was sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee for detailed discussion. The Bill is set to be reintroduced with certain changes suggested by the Parliamentary panel.
