Video: Bengaluru Woman Apologises After Allegedly Abusing Kannada-Speaking Investors During Dispute

A fresh language-related controversy has surfaced in Bengaluru after a woman accused in an alleged investment fraud case was caught on camera purportedly abusing a group of investors and refusing to speak in Kannada.

Confrontation over fraud allegations

According to local reports, several investors approached the woman, identified as Priyanka, to question her over allegations that she had duped people of lakhs of rupees by promising lucrative returns through stock market investments. An FIR had reportedly already been registered in connection with the matter at the Peenya police station.

The confrontation soon escalated into an argument, with the investors asking the woman to communicate in Kannada. Videos circulating on social media allegedly show her refusing to do so and telling those present that she did not know the language.

Apology after police intervention

The incident sparked outrage among local residents, who informed the Govindaraj Nagar police station. Authorities intervened, and the woman later apologised outside the police station.

Hours after the confrontation, another video surfaced online showing the woman expressing regret over her remarks. In the clip, she says, "Jai Karnataka, sorry for Kannada people. Next time, I will not use such words for Karnataka. My intention was not to hurt anyone. I know we are all Indians."

Language row reignited

The episode has once again reignited the debate over language sensitivity and the growing tensions between locals and migrants in Bengaluru, a city that has witnessed several similar disputes in recent years.
