A 36-year-old woman died by suicide as she could not observe fasts and offer prayers during Navaratri due to periods.

Jhansi: A shocking incident surfaced from Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi on Wednesday, where a 36-year-old woman died by suicide as she could not observe fasts and offer prayers during Navaratri due to periods.

The woman, identified as Priyansha Soni, was very upset about not being part of Navratri festivities and then decided to end her life by consuming poison, reported Aaj Tak. Her family took her to a nearby hospital. However, she died during the treatment.

Priyansha was living with her husband Mukesh Soni and two daughters - Jhanvi and Manvi - in the Panna Lal Golla Kuan area of the city. As per the report, Jhanvi is of three years and Manvi is two years old.

As per the deceased's husband, she was very excited about Navaratri and also made preparations for the festival. She even bought items for offering prayers. However, Priyansha got periods on the day when Navaratri began.

Mukesh told the media house that he tried to console her, but she took the extreme step. As per the report, Priyansha was taken to Jhansi Medical College for treatment. Her condition improved and she was discharged from the hospital.

However, after coming home, Priyansha's condition again deteriorated and was rushed to the district hospital where she died.

After receiving the information, the police registered a case and sent the body for postmortem. A detailed investigation has been launched into the matter.
