A shocking video from Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur has gone viral on social media showing a car driver deliberately attempting to run over several young men following a dispute on Saturday night. The incident occurred near VIP Road in Tilak Nagar area.
The disturbing footage shows the driver of a Hyundai i10 repeatedly ramming his vehicle towards pedestrians. The driver also crashed into roadside shops during the incident, causing panic among bystanders.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver was travelling at high speed when some youths attempted to stop him following an altercation. In a fit of rage, the driver began using his car as a weapon, repeatedly lunging the vehicle forward and backward whilse trying to crush the pedestrians. Several people narrowly escaped serious injury.
The incident took place near a closed Rajiv Petrol Pump, an area popular with evening crowds due to nearby food stalls. Local residents managed to alert police, but the driver had fled the scene before officers arrived.
Police have traced the vehicle's registration number from the viral video and launched raids to apprehend the suspect. Officers confirmed that charges of attempted murder and reckless driving will be filed once investigations are complete.
