Doctor Assaulted in Karnataka’s Vijayapura After Woman Alleges Inappropriate Touch During Medical Scan

A young doctor at Karnataka’s Vijayapura District Hospital was assaulted by the family of a female patient after she informed her husband that he had inappropriately touched her during a scan.

According to reports, the incident took place on Wednesday, April 9, when the woman had gone to Vijayapura District Hospital for a medical scan.

After returning home, she told her husband that the doctor had inappropriately touched her during the procedure.

An enraged husband, accompanied by his friends, went to the hospital, confronted the doctor, and physically assaulted him. The doctor, a postgraduate student in radiology, asserted that he was merely fulfilling his duty and denied any misconduct.

The incident sparked a protest by doctors within the hospital. They demanded security, stating that conducting the scan would have been impossible without physical contact with the patient. Medical services were disrupted for a few hours.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
