Viral Song Pretty Little Baby Singer Connie Francis Passes Away At 87

Singer Connie Francis, who was one of the most popular names back in 60s, passed away at the age of 87, her manager confirmed on Thursday. This comes around the time her song 'Pretty Little Baby' has emerged to be a rage on social media, with almost every famous person making content with it.

"It is with a heavy heart and extreme sadness that I inform you of the passing of my dear friend Connie Francis last night. I know that Connie would approve that her fans are among the first to learn of this sad news. More details will follow later," Ron Roberts, Francis' friend and the president of the singer's label Concetta Records, said in an official statement.

In July, Francis had herself shared on Facebook that she had been hospitalised after experiencing excuciating pain. She had also undergone a hip treatment recently, and was recuperating.

The exact cause of her death is yet to be ascertained.

Connie Francis was one of the biggest pop icons in the 1950s and 1960s, and she was also the first solo female artist to top the Billboard Hot 100.

After signing with MGM Records in 1955, Francis struggled initially but it was her breakthrough hit, Who’s Sorry Now?, in 1958, which propelled her to overnight fame. Her other famous songs include Stupid Cupid, Lipstick on Your Collar, and Where the Boys Are, among others.

Almost six decades after recording the song, her track Pretty Little Baby resurfaced on social media, and within no time, it became one of the most used songs for posts and videos on TikTok and Instagram.
