Amidst much fanfare and gusto, the highly-anticipated trailer of Silambarasan TR’s much-awaited comeback film ‘Pathu Thala’ was unveiled with a grand launch of the film’s music at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, on Saturday evening.

Packing in the film’s plot over two minutes, we see STR play AGR, the chief of a land mafia who is engrossed in a political game as the Chief Minister of the State goes missing. His gang is infiltrated with the arrival of Gautham Karthik as the undercover cop. Filmmaker and actor Gautham Vasudev Menon will play the role of the lead antagonist. It will be interesting to see how Menon and STR face-off against each other considering the latter made his film debut in the former’s 2010 film, ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa’, opposite Trisha Krishnan. This is what cinematic dreams are made of for Tamil cinegoers.

‘Pathu Thala’ which translates to ‘Ten Heads’ in Tamil, clearly indicates references to a battle between good and evil from the historic epic Ramayana. It is the official Tamil adaptation of the 2017 Kannada film ‘Mufti’ starring Shivarajkumar and Sriimurali.

Featuring music by the maestro A.R Rahman, ‘Pathu Thala’ brings STR, GVM and Rahman together after their 2022 hit ‘Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu Part 1: The Kindling’. Farook J Basha is credited with the film’s cinematography.

The film also stars Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalaiyarasan, Teejay Arunasalamm and Anu Sithara among others.

Directed by Obeli N Krishna of ‘Sillunu Oru Kaadhal’ fame, the film which is set to release in theatres on March 30 has been jointly produced by Jayantilal Gada (Pen Studios) and K E Gnanavelraja (Studio Green).
