MP IIT Student Suicide Row: Days After Suicide, Kin Search For Answers; Probe Underway
Police are trying to unlock the girl’s mobile phone and laptop, hoping to unravel any potential clues about her state of mind and the reasons behind her decision.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In the wake of the tragic death of 19-year-old Anshu Malaiya, a BTech student at IIT Roorkee, investigations are underway to determine the circumstances leading to her suspected suicide. Anshu was found dead in her hostel room on Tuesday, prompting an outpouring of grief.
Police are trying to unlock the girl’s mobile phone and laptop, hoping to unravel any potential clues about her state of mind and the reasons behind her decision. Roorkee Circle Officer Narendra Pant said that statements from Anshu's family members will be taken soon, as they are currently in a state of shock.

“We have not found any suicide note from the spot and are yet to receive the post-mortem report.However, the doctors who performed the autopsy said that she died of hanging. Forensic teamhas collected samples from the room and we are trying to unlock her mobile and laptop,” he said. Anshu's family, still reeling from the tragedy, has requested privacy during this difficult time.
Her mother, Anjana Malaiya, had earlier said that Anshu was a dedicated student who had successfully cleared the IIT entrance exam in her first attempt but had expressed some concern about her academic performance. Anshu’s father Mukesh Malaiya is in a private job in Bihar and she was elder among two sisters.
