Satna (Madhya Pradesh): The pistol and 14 cartridges stolen from Barauno Gondia Express have been recovered and three culprits arrested in connection with the incident, the police said on Saturday. The arrested culprits, identified as Arun Sahu, Ayush Thakur and Pappu Thakur, are from Chhattisgarh.
According to reports, on March 1, a blue colour bag was stolen from the train when it was between Uslapur and Shankargarh. The bag contained a 7.5mm pistol, a magazine, a mobile phone, cash and 14 cartridges. A man Sunil Tiwari filed a complaint at the railway police station.
The police laid their hands on the thieves on the grounds of their mobile locations. After his arrest, Arun Sahu said Ayush Thakur had sold the mobile phone. On the basis of the information provided by Sahu, the police began to search for Thakur and caught him.
During the interrogation, Thakur said he had stolen a blue colour bag from Barauni Gondia Express. He further said he had sold the mobile phone to Sahu, spent the stolen money and given the pistol to Vimlesh aka Pappu Thakur. Pappu Thakur sold the pistol to another person. After recovering the stolen items from the culprits, the police presented the culprits before the court from where they were sent to jail.
