Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed the Home Department and the Police Headquarters to function as a unified team rather than as separate entities. Chairing a high-level review meeting of the Home Department on Saturday, the Chief Minister reviewed around a dozen pending police-related matters and instructed officials to fix clear timelines for resolving each of them. He emphasised that the Home Department and the police should work in complete coordination.
In line with his earlier announcement, the Chief Minister also directed officials to expedite the proposal for constituting the Police Recruitment Board and place it before the Cabinet at the earliest. Around 10,000 posts are to be filled in the police force, but the recruitment proposal is yet to receive approval at the government level. He noted that the recruitment process, followed by the training of newly appointed personnel, must be completed well in time, particularly in view of the Simhastha 2028 congregation, and called for an immediate decision on the matter.
Keeping the upcoming Simhastha in mind, police officials also submitted proposals for procuring security and cyber security equipment. They informed the Chief Minister about the requirement for new police vehicles, as many old vehicles have already been scrapped while approval for purchasing replacements is still pending. The meeting also discussed the procurement of new software as part of the police force's modernization efforts.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress on his announcement to establish a Counter-Terrorism Group Training Centre in Bhopal on the lines of the National Security Guard (NSG).
During the meeting, the Finance Department pointed out budgetary constraints in relation to some of the pending proposals. Responding to this, the Chief Minister directed all concerned departments to hold joint discussions and work out a coordinated plan for the early resolution of all pending issues.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Director General of Police Kailash Makwana, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sanjay Shukla, and several other senior officials.
