Government Issues Madhya Pradesh Renewable Energy Policy 2025

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh government has issued Madhya Pradesh Renewable Energy Policy 2025. It targets to add renewable energy capacity of 22k megawatt by financial year 2030 and 36k megawatt by financial year 2035.

The policy envisages to add energy storage capacity of 6k megawatt by financial year 2030 and 12k megawatt by financial year 2035. The policy is also looking forward to generate more than 50k new jobs by 2030 and 85k new jobs by 2035.

Incentives will be made available for development of renewable energy projects within Madhya Pradesh and they will include rebate, exemption on duties and cess, grant towards waiver of wheeling charges and government land at concessional rate, etc.

Measures would be taken to incentivise use of renewable power, installing solar energy systems in government buildings under the principle of ‘Zero Investment, Saving from Day One, Moving Towards Net Zero’. Under the implementation strategy, the policy says that renewable energy technology-oriented courses shall be introduced in ITI’s, polytechnics and engineering institutes and skill development centres within the state to provide skilled and semi-skilled manpower to RE Industry.

Any renewable energy generation project registered under this policy will be eligible for applicable incentives provided under the policy along with all subsequent amendments. However, any project registered under any other policy of Government of Madhya Pradesh will not be eligible to avail incentives and benefits under multiple policies.

The exemption in electricity duty and energy development cess part of the policy says that as per provision of Madhya Pradesh Vidyut Shulk Adhiniyam 2012, the project shall be entitled to receive hundred per cent exemption from payment of electricity duty on generation of electrical energy for a period of ten years from the date of COD.

No energy development cess shall be payable on power supplied by renewable energy projects for a period of ten years from COD. The policy also has provision of reimbursement on stamp duty, government land on concessional rate etc and waiver of wheeling charge.

The policy also focuses on incentive for biofuel, initiative for green transformation, energy storage, additional incentives for production of green hydrogen, etc. The vision of the policy says that renewable energy will play a critical role in the development of energy system in the future. Renewable energy will not generate clean energy but will also be at the helm of new investment opportunities, manufacturing and employment generation, etc.
