Drunk Policeman’s Car Hits Couple in MP's Chhatarpur; Woman Dies, Husband Critical |
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A woman died in a tragic accident after a drunk policeman’s car hit a couple riding a bike on Chhatarpur-Panna highway on Sunday night.
The deceased woman identified as 35-year-old Parvati Ahirwar and her husband 38-year-old Rajaram Ahirwar is undergoing treatment at Gwalior Medical College.
"If someone dies, let them die"
The accused policeman has been identified as Ramkunwar Singh, whose car hit a couple riding a bike near Khairi village in Bamitha police station area. According to information policeman was arguing with passersby in a drunken state.
When a passerby asked what would happen if the woman dies, he said “if someone dies, let them die, yes I caused the accident.”
The incident happened between 12 and 1 am on Sunday night. The Ahirwar couple was returning from Gulganj to Bamitha after a thirteenth day ceremony. The speed of the policeman's car (MP16 ZC 3527) was so high that after the collision, it broke the wire fencing of the highway and entered the field.

The injured couple was first taken to the district hospital. When their condition became critical, they were referred to Gwalior. Parvati died near Mauranipur.
Bamitha police station in-charge said that the incident is being investigated. Parvati's postmortem has been done at Chhatarpur district hospital.
