Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): On the third day of his Spain tour on Friday, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav met Jaume Duch Guillot, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Government of Catalonia, in Barcelona.

The two leaders discussed cooperation in academics and research by connecting higher education institutions of Madhya Pradesh such as IIT Indore and IISER Bhopal with universities in Barcelona.

Yadav urged pioneering companies of Catalonia to invest in Madhya Pradesh, highlighting the state’s new investment and industrial policies. He said this is the right time for European companies to explore opportunities in Madhya Pradesh.

He suggested that both governments strengthen communication through arts exhibitions, literature, museums, and cultural exchanges. He also proposed seeking Catalonia’s technical assistance in Smart City projects, green buildings, and urban transport systems.

During his visit, the Chief Minister praised the Mercabarna integrated model — a 250-acre food logistics hub in Barcelona where production, storage and distribution are managed in a uniform manner.

He inspected Mercabarna’s food bank and zero waste management system, and invited the Mercabarna group to invest in Madhya Pradesh, where the state government is promoting private sector partnerships.
