Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Special Police Establishment (SPE) Lokayukta Police have registered a case regarding the accumulation of disproportionate assets (DA) following the discovery of Rs 3.2 crore cash at a house in Sagar against the retired PWD engineer and his wife and two more, police said on Friday.

The Sagar Police had informed the Sagar Lokayukta unit about the seizure of the amount from the house of a taxi driver, leading to the registration of a case against four individuals, including retired PWD officer Ramesh Ahirwar, his wife Subhadra Ahirwar, Ankit and one more.

The resident of the house where the money was found had told the police that the cash belonged to Ahirwar, a retired PWD officer based in Bhopal, who had kept it there.

The Lokayukta Police took cognisance of the matter and registered an FIR. The Lokayukta Police will now investigate the entire case and more names may get added into the case in the future.

Ahirwar's tenure in service may also come under the scope of the investigation.

Cash found during weapon search

On August 16, the Gopalganj police in Sagar received information that Saurabh Ahirwar, a resident of the Tili Tigadda area, was circulating a photo of himself with a gun on social media.

Acting on the tip-off regarding illegal weapon possession, the police raided the house. While no weapon was found during the search, the police found a large amount of cash in a cupboard.

The police informed senior officials, and a currency counting machine was brought on Sunday night.

Following the recovery of the cash, the police sent detailed information to senior Income Tax Department officials, as well as the Lokayukta Police and the Economic Offences Wing (EOW).
