Washington DC: US President Donald Trump’s major statement comes just days after the successful Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit and bilateral talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Taking to Truth Social Trump said,"Looks like we’ve lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest, China. May they have a long and prosperous future together," he said posting a picture of the three leaders.

MEA Reacts

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has responded to the post by the US President. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal responding to a question on the post during the weekly press briefing, said,"Regarding the post I have no comments to offer on this post at this point."

Earlier in the week, Chinese President Xi Jinping hosted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit (SCO) in Tianjin.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday held bilateral talks against the backdrop of Washington's tariff tussle that has impacted almost all leading economies across the world.

This was PM Modi’s first visit to China in seven years and his first bilateral engagement with Xi in the country since 2018. As part of the easing of tensions, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra has been resumed, allowing Indian pilgrims to travel to Tibet once again. PM Modi confirmed that direct flight services between the two countries are being restored, signalling a step towards normalisation of people-to-people exchanges.

PM Modi-Putin Private Chat

In addition to bilateral talks, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a 45-minute private conversation during a car ride. Putin later revealed that their discussion, which took place during the ride in China, centred around the recent US–Russia summit held in Alaska.
