Boris Johnson has resinged today. He became the prime minister on 24 July 2019 and was in office for 2 years and 348 days. This now put in top four shortest serving British prime ministers.
Johnson has now served lesser as prime minister for lesser duration than Theresa May. May became prime minister in 2016, served for three years and 12 days until 2019.
In the long history of England there have been only two PM’s Tony Blair and Margaret Thatcher have managed to remain in that role for more than a decade.
However, the PM who has served the shortest term is George Canning. He was the PM only for 119 days.
