Youtuber Kanika Devrani alleged that she and her co-passengers were drugged and robbed during a train journey on Brahmaputra Mail. According to Kanika, the incident took place when the train was halted at New Jalpaiguri Junction (NJP) in West Bengal. The Youtuber took to social media to share her traumatic experience and the video has grabbed eyeballs across the netizens, raising concerns of passenger's safety and security in train journies.

Kanika claimed in the video that when she was travelling, a stranger without a ticket, boarded the 2AC compartment of the train at New Jalpaiguri Juction around 4 AM. According to her, the stranger sprayed something on the passengers, by which Kanika and her co-passenger experienced blackout for a period. When Kanika came back to her senses, her iPhone, kept below her pillow, was missing. Her co-passenger too lost his phone.
Devran continues that someone claiming to be an RPF official later called her mother from her phone and asked for the password. The YouTube further alleges that the police refused to help her despite of the access to the live location of the iphone.

Official Statment From Railways
According to the reports by Hidustan Times, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, Northeast Frontier Railway, said, "The lady is presently in Guwahati. Railway Protection Force has registered her complaint, and help of the CEIR portal is being taken to trace her lost phone and nab the criminals. The entire matter is being investigated in detail and strong action will be taken to ensure recurrence of any such incident in the future."
The video has raised questions of passenger's safety and security during travel along with many users tagging IRCTC and West Bengal Police to report the alleged incident.
