Lucknow/Barpeta, April 03: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday addressed a high-voltage election rally in Assam’s Barpeta, strongly attacking the Congress and UDF while campaigning for NDA candidate Deepak Kumar Das.
Targets Congress, UDF in rally
He said Congress had already “fled the ground” ahead of elections and called upon voters to reject the UDF, alleging it thrived on infiltration and vote-bank politics. Stressing national security, Yogi declared that Assam would not be allowed to become a land of “love jihad” or “land jihad,” adding that infiltrators would be identified and removed.
Focus on security and identity
Highlighting the NDA’s commitment, he said the “double engine government” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is focused on safeguarding Assam’s cultural identity and ensuring development. He accused Congress and UDF of encouraging infiltration and disturbing the demographic balance of the state.
Cultural references and greetings
Yogi also extended greetings on Rongali Bihu and praised Assam’s rich heritage, mentioning Maa Kamakhya, Srimanta Sankardeva, Madhavdeva, and the legacy of Lachit Borphukan. He noted Assam’s global recognition through Kaziranga National Park and its growing economic potential.
Compares with Uttar Pradesh governance
Drawing comparisons with Uttar Pradesh, he said the state has seen major improvements in law and order, development, and welfare schemes under BJP rule. “No curfew, no riots,” he said, adding that strict action is taken against offenders.
Highlights welfare and development schemes
He highlighted initiatives like Ujjwala, Ayushman Bharat, and free ration schemes, while also pointing to infrastructure growth and employment opportunities.
