Who doesn't love to travel? Well, we all do! But sometimes traveling could be hectic when it comes to booking transport (especially trains). From booking a train seat to tracking any delay in it, it can complicated. So, to simplify your experience, the Ministry of Railways has unveiled 'SwaRail'.
SwaRail is a Superapp designed to integrate various railway services into one platform. As of now, this app is in beta phase. Let's have a detailed look at your new travel buddy!
Introducing 'SwaRail'
The app is accessible on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The app is developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). SwaRail aims to improve your experience by combining multiple public-facing services of Indian Railways into a single interface.
So, how does the app bring to you? SwaRail offers you a long list of services. These include:
Ticket bookings (reserved, unreserved, and platform)
Parcel and freight inquiries
Train and PNR status checks
Food orders on trains
Complaint management through Rail Madad
The new SuperApp also comes with features designed to enhance your experience. These include Single Sign-On, allowing users to access all services with a single set of credentials. These details can be used later across existing Indian Railways. Such as the IRCTC RailConnect and UTS.
You also get an easy onboarding process. This allows you to sign in with your existing UTS/RailConnect credentials. Thus allowing you to access your account later using biometric authentication and m-PIN.
Please note that if you are an existing RailConnect and UTS Mobile App user, you can log in directly. Also, an R-Wallet automatically gets created for you. The existing R-Wallets from the UTS on the Mobile App are also linked for seamless transactions.
The roadmap ahead
The Ministry of Railways has invited users to participate in the beta phase. The main aim is to get feedback to improve functionality before the app gets launched publicly. Also, CRIS is monitoring the testing phase. The goal is to get your suggestions and fix technical issues based on that.
The official public release date of SwaRail will come after the beta testing phase. To conclude, the initiative can bring more digitization when it comes to booking trains through traditional methods. Plus you get a quick yet simple passenger experience through integrated technology solutions.
