World Schools Chess Championship: Mumbai's Laksh Jain Represents India At Prestigious Event

Laksh Satyen Jain, a talented young chess player and Grade 1 student at the American School of Bombay (ASB) ,made the city proud by representing India at the prestigious World Schools Chess Championship held in Serbia.
This grand event featured 1,200 players from 110 countries, making it one of the most competitive youth chess tournaments globally.
Laksh earned his place in this championship after an outstanding performance at the National Schools Chess Championship held in Kakinada, where he showcased remarkable strategic skills and resilience.
At the World Schools Chess Championship, which concluded today, March 30, 2025, he competed against some of the strongest young players from Mongolia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey, securing 3 points out of 9 rounds and finishing at an impressive 26th position in the Under-7 category, officially marking his Under-7 World Ranking.
Laksh is being coached by Durga Nagesh Guttula and his team of expert trainers at Mumbai Chess centre ,Pedder Road, who have been instrumental in shaping his chess journey and preparing him for elite international tournaments.
Expressing her gratitude, Shraddha Jain, Laksh’s mother, shared:

Laksh’s performance in Serbia highlights India’s growing chess dominance at the junior level, and he is determined to continue making strides on the global stage.
