The much-anticipated World Pickleball League kicked off with an electrifying Maharashtra derby on its inaugural day as Mumbai Pickle Power and Pune United faced off in a thrilling encounter. 

The league's 15-minute timed match format brought intense action, nail-biting moments, and spectacular performances from both teams.

Mumbai Pickle Power set the tone early with Brandon Lane dominating the opening tie, securing a crucial victory in the men’s singles. The momentum carried into the women’s doubles clash, where Mumbai’s pairing outplayed Pune United to extend their lead to 2-0.

However, Pune United refused to back down, rallying in the men’s doubles match to clinch a hard-fought victory and keep their hopes alive.

The highlight of the tie was the women’s singles match, a closely contested battle between Mihae Kwon of Mumbai and Brooke from Pune.
