Kiwi star batter Kane Williamson smashed a brilliant century in the 2nd ODI of the Tri-Nation ODI Series against South Africa at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Monday.

South Africa set a challenging target of 305, thanks to debutant Matthew Breetzke record-breaking 150, which helped them reach 304/6. New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss for the second time in a row and chose to field.

Williamson, who made 58 off 89 balls against Pakistan, played with more aggression this time, hitting 11 fours and 2 sixes on his way to his 14th ODI century.

With the Champions Trophy right around the corner, he has regained his form with the right intent. Opener Devon Conway provided solid support, scoring 97 in a crucial 187-run stand for the second wicket.

For South Africa, Breetzke made history by becoming the first player to score 150 on his ODI debut in a tri-series. His 150 off 148 balls broke the previous record of 148 set by West Indies’ Desmond Haynes in 1978. However, he is not part of South Africa’s Champions Trophy squad.
