Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): China won gold in both-- Men & Women category of 10m Air Rifle finals on Day-3 of ISSF Shooting World Cup on Friday.

Interestingly, it was China Vs China for the gold fight in Men's finals, when Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Sheng Lihao secured the top spot. India's Rudrankksh Patil won bronze with a score of 26.3.

In the women's category, China's Huang Yuting, a double gold medalist at the Cairo World Championships last year, bagged gold medal. While USA won silver, it was bronze for Kazakhstan.

Notably, of six matches held so far in this Shooting World Cup, China has won gold in five. It was only in Men's 10m Air Pistol Finals that India's Sarabjot Singh bagged a gold medal.

Ramita finishes fourth

India had only one top eight finisher Ramita in the women’s 10m Air Rifle, when she shot 632.3 to finish second among medal contenders in the 52-strong field.

The top eight had two Chinese, two Americans and one shooter each from Romania, Israel and Kazakhstan, besides hosts India. China’s Cairo World champion in the Mixed Team Air Rifle, was in ominous form, topping the qualifications with a score of 632.8, while Tokyo Olympics silver medalist in the Mixed Team Air Rifle, Mary Tucker of USA, also made it through in seventh place.

In the top eights, Huang was a cut above the rest, finishing on top again with a score of 265.7 as Mary shot 261.2 for a shot at gold. Kazakhstan’s Alexandra Le beat India’s Ramita to secure bronze, shooting 261.2 to the Indian’s 260.5. Huang then maintained her form to defeat Mary 16-4 to grab China’s fifth gold in the tournament.
