Pakistan and Peshawar Zalmi opener Saim Ayub's answer to a question left all the reporters in splits during the press conference after the PSL 2025 game against the Quetta Gladiators on Saturday in Rawalpindi. With a reporter asking about what the conversation was with Mohammad Amir in the middle, Ayub said, 'Agar main na bataaun toh?'
The incident occurred in the very first over as Amir beat Ayub on the opening delivery and the left-handed batter pinched a single off the next ball. Although the left-arm speedster tried to unsettle the youngster with a few words, Ayub didn't respond to the same. The veteran fast bowler said a few words to Ayub before bowling the last ball of the over as well.
The reporter asked Ayub
"Jab aap aur Babar Azam batting kar rahe they, aap opening aaye, tab Mohammad Amir bowling kar rahe they. Pehli ball jab beat hue, toh aapko aake kuch ishaara kiya, kuch baat kar rahe they, feel ho raha tha kuch aggression dikha rahe hain. Kya baat chal rahi thi? (When you and Babar Azam were batting, Mohammad Amir was bowling. When you got beaten on the first ball, Amir said something, showing his aggression. What was the conversation)
The southpaw stated:
"Yeh agar main na bataaun toh?" (What if I don't tell you)
Ayub, nevertheless, assured that it was only a banter and nothing serious was going on between them.
Saim Ayub scores fifty but Peshawar Zalmi lose big
In what was the left-hander's first game in months, Ayub scored a 38-ball 50 but Zalmi endured a collective batting failure that saw them losing to the Gladiators by 80 runs while chasing a mammoth 217.
Hussain Talat (35) and Mitch Owen (31) offered some resistance but Zalmi fell a long way short in the end. For the Gladiators, Abrar Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-0-42-4.
